About Filters for Nordson Hot Melt Systems

Maintaining clean, contaminant-free hot melt adhesive is vital for preventing nozzle clogs and ensuring consistent, high-quality bonding. Filters play a critical role in removing charred adhesive particles, dust, and other debris that can accumulate in the system over time.

Different filter types are designed for specific applications and melter configurations, offering varying levels of filtration and ease of maintenance. Choosing the right filter ensures optimal adhesive flow and extends the lifespan of crucial system components like nozzles and applicators.

Nordson Saturn filters, known for their convenient basket-style design, are commonly used in a variety of hot melt systems. These filters feature a disposable cartridge containing a fine mesh screen that traps contaminants. Saturn filters are available in various mesh sizes, allowing for different levels of filtration based on adhesive properties and application requirements. They can be installed either in-line with the heated hose or integrated directly into certain applicator models.

Inline filters, often used with hand-held applicators, and larger filter assemblies integrated into high-capacity melters. Inline filters typically feature a reusable housing with a replaceable filter screen, offering a cost-effective and sustainable solution for contaminant removal. 

Integrated filter assemblies, often employing a reverse-flush mechanism for easy cleaning, are designed for heavy-duty applications and high-volume adhesive dispensing.
